Warring field commanders to arrive in Addis Ababa on Thursday for ceasefire workshop

ADDIS ABABA –  South Sudan’s warring field commanders are summoned to show up in Addis Ababa on Thursday to begin the implementation procedure of the IGAD-Plus compromise agreement. The commanders drawn from as far Unity State and Northern Bhar El Ghazal are asked to come to Addis Ababa for a ceasefire implementation workshop organised by IGAD and conducted by elite African Union commanders made up of various African countries, arranged to ensure that the recently signed peace agreement holds and that peace returns to the devastated country of South Sudan.

Among the government commanders expected to be in Addis Ababa tomorrow include General Gabriel Jok Riak commanding the Unity State front for the government, Johnson Gony Bilieu of Upper Nile, Maj Gen Malual Ayom for Jonglei among others. On the rebels side, Maj Gen Makal Kuol, Gen Koang Chuol Ranley and Maj Gen Saddam Chayout are expected to attend the workshop.

The workshop is the first kind of the peace agreement implementation procedure.
