Machar’s arrival in Juba pushed to April 18

PAGAK, South Sudan – The leader of the SPLMIO and First Vice President Dr Riek Machar will not come to Juba on 12 of April as requested in the timetable of JMEC, according to a senior official of the SPLMIO.

 

James Gatdet Dak, the spokesperson of the Chairman and Commander in Chief, Dr Riek Machar said in a Facebook update that Machar won’t be in Juba as per the dateline and instead, he will be arriving in Juba on Monday, the 18th of April, 2016.

 

First Vice President designate, H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny-Dhurgon, will return to Juba on 18th April, not on 12th April…

Dak didn’t explain the reason behind the changing of the date but according to some senior movement officials this paper spoke to, Machar couldn’t go to Juba on 12 of April “because he has pending meetings in Pagak that he will have to attend to on Sunday the 10th.

Machar’s adjournment of his arrival put to an hold the formation of a unity government the two parties are expected to form this month.  Machar is expected to be accompanied to Juba by various heads of states and governments and particularly, the IGAD heads of states.

JMEC already scheduled a meeting between Machar and Salva Kiir which is likely to be adjourned given this latest development.
