Mabior Garang Was Seen Drinking With Raila Odinga’s Son, Fidel Before the Later Passed Away

NAIROBI – Kenya’s former Prime Minister and opposition leader’s son Fidel Odinga was found dead at his Karen (Nairobi) home in unknown circumstances on Sunday.

Fidel, the eldest son of the veteran Kenyan politician was seen having a few drinks at Sankara Hotel in Westlands on Saturday with his friends which included Mabior Garang de Mabior, Chairman of the national committee for information for SPLM-I-O and son of the founder of the SPLM, Dr John Garang.

Fidel, whose name was given to symbolise Odinga family’s admiration for former Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, is a huge fan of Sankara (one of the Africa’s pan-Africanists). Fidel and Mabior are close friends and pan-Africanists.

Fidel, according to some friends in the pub complained of stomach pain and shortness of breath. His friends said that he didn’t complete the night like the rest and went home.

Fidel was born in 1973, and was married to an Eritrean migrant called Getachew Bekele. they only had one child. Fidel was the eldest son in a family of four children. Among them are: Rosemary, Raila Junior and Winnie.

Fidel was expected to enter politics by 2017 to follow the footsteps of his strong father and CORD leader, Raila Odinga.
