Kenyan blogger jailed for abusing President Uhuru Kenyatta

Nairobi – A Kenyan blogger will serve a maximum of two years behind bars for hate speech aimed at the sitting President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The sentence composed of 1 year behind bars or Ksh200,000 and one separate charge which amount to another year but without fine.
The offender is a Kenyan student studying at a university by the name Alan Wadi Okengo also known on social media as Lieutenant Wadi. The magistrate accused him of using his Facebook account for publishing hate sppech against Kenyatta and found guilty of abusing a sitting president and undermining authority of a publich office.
Lieutenant Wadi was believed to have posted the hate speech aimed Kenyatta on 18th of December, 2014. Wadi claimed that he has mental disorders and therefore he should be pardoned and forgiven but the court refused.
