Ethiopia will deploy to south sudan as soon as next week depending on the orders from IGAD – Gen Meskel


Gambella – An ethiopian General in the border town of Gambella has disclosed that his country is ready to deploy the IGAD intervention forces to South Sudan as soon as possible.
Gen Fikadu Meskel, one of the generals recently deployed to South Sudan to rescue more than 100 Ethiopian kids abducted by murle armed men from South Sudan said that his division is the only one instructed to be on a high alert in an anticipation of the deployment to south sudan.
“yes we have got the request that we may go back to south sudan again. there is no description of where will be but the higher authorities told us that the deployment can come as early as next week. No problems, we are serving our country and wherever our government want us to go, we will go.” – Meskel said
Gen Fikadu added that the deployment to South Sudan doesnt depend on Ethiopia alone. he said that the regional body group, the IGAD will have to agree to their Prime Minster proposal of ” quick deployment of arresting the sitution” .
President Kiir, one of the warring factors in south sudan is not happy with recent plans by IGAD to deploy troops to south sudan saying there are already enough UNMISS forces in the country.
