GAMBELLA – South Sudan’s parliamentary speaker Hon Magok Rundial led a delegation of South Sudanese officials to attend an Ethiopian Nationalities celebration in Gambella.

Magok, representing South Sudan in an event that attracted foreign officials from various countries jetted in Yesterday and received at the airport by Gambella Governor H.E Ato Gatluak Tut Kot.

The security around Magok’s team was tightened by Gambella Police and Ethiopian forces to avert any personal threat.

Gambella is largely inhabited by Nuer tribe who in one way or the other are affected by the ongoing war in South Sudan fought almost along ethnic lines of Nuer vs Dinka. The Nuer in Gambella also had some of their people killed during the Juba Massacre between 15-20 December 2013.

Gambella is also close to Pagak, the strong hold and headquarter of SPLMIO. In fact all the SPLMIO officials and soldiers pass through it everyday on their way to Addis Ababa for peace talks.

Magok will represent Salva Kiir in the event.
