Fighting Resumes in Juba as Government Forces Attacks Opposition Base in Jebel

JUBA – A reliable source disclosed to the Upper Nile Times this morning that the government forces have attacked the base of Dr. Riek Machar once again.

This news came in at which time both the Government under Salva Kiir and In opposition faction under Dr. Machar have engaged in a deadly clashes on Sunday July 10, 2016, as a result of the violent conflict that took place outside the presidential palace between the bodyguards of the two opposing leaders on Friday.

It was alleged that President Kiir’s bodyguards, in a move that seemed to have been a set up were trying to use the style of December 2013, which was about to disarm the opposition factions’ arms raising concerns.

The clashes are reported to have been intense and therefore, resulted to a repulsion of the government forces with a bigger pushes deeper inside the inner city.

James Gatdet Dak, the press secretary for the First Vice President, Dr. Machar, on his Facebook timeline reported that “president Salva kiir’s forces attacked Jebel (site 2) but have been repulsed now….”  He then continued to say “there is fighting in Torit,” and if that is true, the nation is set for all-out war.

The violence has claimed hundreds of soldiers leaving 10,000 people displaced to UN Protection of Civilian Sites.
