Armed National Security officers confiscated computers at Supreme Court, abducted Court’s IT officer

JUBA – 16 heavily armed men dressed as National Security officers caused a huge standoff on Thursday at the Supreme Court, forcefully demanding to enter the office of the Chief Justice and asking staffs to vacate their offices for a “security search ordered from above”.

The men, some of whom dressed in civilian clothes and SPLA uniforms stormed the compound earlier on Thursday, besieging all the exits in the building. They kidnapped the chief IT operator, a Kakwa man by tribe who has not been seen back to the office up to now. the man was reported to have been taken to the national security building last night.

The chief justice of the supreme court was not in the office when the standoff happened. The officers confiscated 12 computers belonging to the institution and made away with several files and folders.
