A Convoy of Government Soldiers going to Maridi to Attack SPLA-IO Force Destroyed

MARIDI – Heavy fighting involving 14 trucks full of government soldiers ordered to clear SPLA-IO forces in Maridi yesterday at 8:00am, were destroyed leaving the soldiers in disarray.  Our correspondence who chose to remain anonymous has reported that Salva Kiir’s forces have suffered a great defeat sending a strong signal to the government in Juba that the SPLM/A-IO is gaining more territories in Equatoria Region and will never condone the status quo exercised under the directive of the Jieng Council of Elders (JCE).

Commander Nyarango in charge of division in Mundri promised that in just a month time Western Equatoria will be cleared of the government forces and will advance toward Juba to restore law and order as Juba government failed to honor August 2015 peace agreement signed in Addis Ababa.  The continuous attack on our forces and the replacement of Dr. Machar with Taban Deng Gai will never bring about a lasting peace across South Sudan.

For any peace lover across the region, the only possibility to bring calm to South Sudan is to resuscitate peace; otherwise, the tyrant government in Juba will be forced out.  Meanwhile, Nyarango reiterated that we want peace as we are committed to it from day one our chairman Dr. Machar inked that deal.  It is the Salva Kiir’s government that is not honoring it.  We call upon the whole region to condemn the barbaric act the government is committing against the innocent civilians across the country.

The violence has claimed more than 100,000 people, and displaced more than 2.5 million people to neighboring countries.  It is believed that with the coming of the dry season, South Sudan will return to an all-out war because the Juba government has been preparing to launch attacks against opposition forces across the country.  Stay tune!
