SSDF-M and SPLM-DC Merged as One Party

JUBA – The South Sudan Democratic Forum-Mainstream (SSDF-M) has merged with Sudan People Liberation Movement for Democratic Change () as one political party. The SSDF-M has declared in the press conference as the reason for merging is that due to the delay in the political parties registration in the country and with the current crisis in the country that need the involvement of all the stakeholders to work together seeking for the solution. Dr. Mario A. Awet, Secretary General of South Sudan Democratic Forum-Mainstream addressing the press conference in Juba Yam Hotel said, “with due to the delay of the establishment of the political Parties council as well as the internal crisis in the country at this moment, it is crystal clear that it is impossible and difficult for the newly established parties to register and participate in the national healing, political activities and other important role as an officially recognize party by the council of political parties who have not yet started its duties and functions.”

“This critical situation which our country is in today, after having gone through consultations with Sudan People Liberation Movement-Democratic Change SPLM-DC, we realized that the best way to contribute in the stability and development of our nation is to merged and work collectively as one body,” Dr. Mario Awet added.

“Hence, for our people progress, they need a strong political party with a clear vision, mission and self-denial in terms of service delivery,” Awet continued.

He added that it had taken us two years waiting to register and we said it’s enough and cannot wait any further for the council to start, for this reason; the SSDF-M would like to inform the public at large about our political decision to merge with SPLM-DC.

“We have merged now and worked with SPLM-DC as one party,” Dr Mario declared.

Meanwhile Deng Bior Deng SPLM-DC acting Secretary General said, “our gathering here today marks the desire and objectives of joining our brothers and sisters in SSDF-M and indeed a want to cooperate with other political parties including the ruling SPLM to forge consensus to deliver our country and nation from the pits of discord and disparity and hatred to the majestic heights of oneness of purpose, good governance rule of law and human right towards building viable and vibrant country that can be respected by our people internally and externally by others.”
