Riek Machar wants to “bulldoze” his way to the top – Governors forum told

JUBA  – A governor’s forum that addresses the shortcomings of the central government of South Sudan were told yesterday by President Kiir that his rival in the 10 months civil war, Dr Riek Machar “wants the leadership by all means.”
Kiir in an opening remark to the governors said that States leadership must fully function if “we are deter the ascendency of Riek Machar”

” I must tell you that Dr Riek Machar is trying everything to bulldoze his way to the seat him currently holding. He tried with the coup in December. His soldiers are gearing up to attack our positions around the country. and in fact as we speak, fighting is going on in Bentiu and other areas around Upper Nile are facing immediate threats. We must act collectively to counter this” – Kiir lectured.

President Kiir also renewed his government’s commitment for peace saying the recent summit by IGAD heads of states was done through his invitation he extended to Kenyatta, Desalegn and Rugunda of Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda respectively.
In another development, Kiir encouraged the governors to expediate services delivery to all the neglected counties and areas in order to help people settle peacefully when peace returns. He said that there is a weak link in administration between the states and central government. He strongly pressed the governors to do their work and make South Sudan secure and peaceful.
