US squarely blames Juba government for ongoing atrocities committed in Unity State

JUBA – The US embassy in Juba (South Sudan) ayed blame on the government forces for their recent offensive that targetted civilians in Nhialdiu and other areas of Unity State calling it ” grave human right violation and a direct contravention of the Cessation of Hostilities” igned by the two warring parties last year.
The US embassy in a press statement said the reports coming out of the “government offensive on the Opposition forces” in civilians territories are disturbing. Adding the latest atrocities come as a result of the Juba forces’ offensive on the oppposition.

“Those who threaten the peace in South Sudan or violate the international law must be held accountable” partly reads the US Embassy statement.

The US asks the warring parties to silent their guns and give peace a chance.
NHIALDIU AND GUIT REDUCED TO RUBBLE
Reports from the displaced persons coming out of Nhialdiu and Guit have disclosed the government forces and militias of Bul section of Puljang and Nguen Monytuil have resorted to burning down of civilian properties in a revenge style format targetting opposing clans of Bentiu. The displaced persons also disclosed that there was widespread rape, disappearance and extrajudicial killing targetting anyone the militias see as opposition to Puljang and Nguen in the area.
