RENK – Rebels forces of SPLM in Opposition have accused Juba regime and its allied forces of poisonous banned chemical weapon attack in Amdhalwic near Renk last week.
Col Chol Tut, a rebel officer in the ranks of SPLM in Opposition said that a toxic gas was fired at them 7 times by the regime forces using a launcher and poisoned about 7 officers of his command.

“The regime resorted to using internationally banned chemical weapons because they lack manpower and are not able to sustain a fight for a long time. we defeated them after they come and attack us. Inititially they came with a huge force and fired toxic gases to us. we then decided to withdrew because the weapon is blinding some of my comrades. we withdrew to a nearby river to regain our sight and to relaunch the offensive again. We then dislodge and repulsed them after that. they’ve all ran to the direction of Renk.” Col Chol said.

Col Chol also claimed that they have evidences of unexploded barrels. There was no independent verification of the claim as the area is hardly accessible.
Regime forces were often accused of using chemical poisoning gases and banned weapons. After the eruption of the conflict in 2013, the regime was accused of using Ugandan warplanes to drop cluster bombs on rebels fighters in Bor and some parts of Uror.
