Salva Kiir cannot waste his time by coming to Addis and get lectured by Riek Machar – Nhial Deng

ADDIS ABABA – In a major diplomatic tussle with international community, South Sudan government negotiators found themselves in a really strange situation, having to explain to IGAD what continues to prevent the principal, President Salva Kiir from attending talks despite earlier commitment by the two leaders.
Nhial Deng Nhial, the lead negotiator of the Juba faction angrily lashed out at opposition elements and international community particularly the US, UK and Norway who demands the presence of Salva Kiir at peace talks.

“Salva cannot come to Addis Ababa and waste time listening to lectures from Riek Machar regarding the reconstitution of the Legislature and the Country. He is a head of State and he has no time for nonsense and leaving the real issues.” Nhial said

Salva Kiir of Juba faction and Dr Riek Machar of SPLM-i-O have agreed in November last year to be present till the final end of the peace talks. Dr Riek since the start of the last phase of the peace talks on Monday was in Addis Ababa. Kiir however refused to appear and only instructed his negotiators to go to Addis and present in his behalf.
Kiir’s absence strongly angried the Troika members state who fully funded the Addis Ababa peace initiative. UK representatives called his absence as delayment of peace in South Sudan. The government of Juba is under intensive pressure with US threatening to sanction whoever is found to obstruct peace effort.
