Opposition forces accused Juba of attacks in Bentiu, in violation of COH

PAGAK –  The South Sudan opposition forces allied to former vice president, Dr Riek Machar have bluntly accused the regime forces of Salva Kiir of attacking their positions in Unity State’s Rubkotna in what they believed as one of the latest violation of Cessation of Hostilities by the government in Juba.
Brig Gen Lul Ruai Kong, the military spokesman of the opposition forces have disclosed that the attacks happened in Rubkotna and three areas of Guit counties. Brig Lul said that the fighting is still ongoing.

“Eight of our positions came under Attacks. Government tribal militias supported by SSLA fighters at dawn launched coordinated attacks on Eight of our defensive positions in Rupkoni and Guit Counties.. . The following five military outposts came under simultaneous attacks: a) Tier-Bar  b) Ngoany  c) Panyiany d) Pabiey and e) Thou-Maan-gor.  In Guit County; Liet, Toy-Kom and Thor-Liet were also attacked…….Ugandan Air-force is expected to give government forces and allied militias close air support.” – Lul said

Brig Lul believed that the attack is an ongoing plan by the government of Juba to gain territories already controlled by the opposition forces.

“The long awaited government’s dry season offensives had began in earnest but SPLA-IO will keep on fighting back in self defend.” –  Brig. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang said.
