JUBA – Presidential Spokesman, Ateny Wek Ateny has claimed that a group tasked to relocate Salva Kiir cattle from Luri village in Central Equatoria State to Warrap and specifically to Kuajok(homestead to president Kiir), have started preparing for the relocation; and in fact the first batch of cattle is expected to depart as early as this week.

“This is in line with president’s commitment to the recent decree that instructed all the cattle herders currently displaced into Greater Equatoria to move back to where they came from. The president want to lead by example. Preparation is already underway to relocate his cartels”, Ateny said.
Kiir has his cattle camp and farm in Luri near Juba. There’s no immediate statistics on the number of the president’s cattle but close aids believed that, by the end of January this year, the number of his cattle at Luri could number around 2000 as there were disappearances and relocations to Warrap.
It’s not clear if pastoralists from Jonglei, displaced by war and currently causing havoc in greater Equatoria will follow suit.
