AWEIL – South Sudanese President Salva Kiir has fired the caretaker governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state a move that brings high tension in N. Barh el Ghazal among the supporters of former governor Paul Malong Awan currently army Chief of Staff and former caretaker governor Kuel Aguer who is currently confined in Juba.

A source from Northern Barh el Ghazal disclosed to the Upper Nile Times that a “high tension has been mounting between the pro-Paul Malong Awan and the loyalists of the sacked governor Kuel.” The cause for this tension came due to the surprising move Salva Kiir took to sack the caretaker Governor Kuel Aguer for allegedly not wanting to accept the corrupt system Paul Malong and President Salva Kiir are exercising in the whole region. Governor Kuel, who used to be a staunch supporter of Salva Kiir, had fallen out with Paul Malong over the leadership issues in Northern Barh el Ghazal.

According our source, the people of Northern Barh el Ghazal are divided and Northern Barh el Ghazal will never be the same again. We cannot allow dictatorship to overpower us, he said. If Salva Kiir does not serve the people of South Sudan, but Paul Malong Awan, than both of them will see the wrath.

Also, in Juba the situation is quite volatile and will not take time to explode, said a high profile official. The killing of president Kiir’s bodyguards is quite a shocking one and will unlikely be resolved. The patience is wearing out in Juba, he added.

On a separate development, one of our correspondences reported to us from Juba that the killing of two bodyguards was suspicious. It is a big wander as many of their colleagues are very unhappy about the situation. It is believed that the killers must be from the same Unit, but politically motivated. Also, the president remains silence making the whole situation in Juba worse. The suspects are believed to have hidden in President Kiir’s closet.

South Sudan has been ruled by decrees one after another by Salva Kiir until December 2013 when the war broke out in Juba. Some critiques labeled Salva Kiir as incompetence for using decrees as a way of governance rather than empowering the legislature to amend the laws.
