Opposition deputy army spokesman accuses Juba faction of trying to attack his group in Jonglei to obstruct peace

PAGAK – South Sudan rebels’ deputy military spokesman Mr Dickson Gatluak Jock Nyuot has accused the Juba faction of trying to amass troops to attack Pajut of Jonglei in a latest attempt to obstruct peace in the country.

Nyuot in a statement issued to the Upper Nile Times while in Pagak said that his group has been alerted about the advancement of the Juba forces in the rebel controlled areas of Pajut.

“The government forces are trying to attack our position in Lou Nuer land any time from now in order to block the on going peace process. The place which they aim to target is Pajut area close to Yoay. Their purpose is to clear the local defend forces from their defensive positions. But our forces are very alerted and will tackle them head on” – Nyout said in a statement.

There has been a constant back and forth ceasefire violations from the two warring parties which the IGAD monitoring team have been struggling to contain. Lately in Upper Nile, IGAD verification and monitoring team accused the Juba faction of carrying out deadly attacks in Northern Upper Nile and some parts of Unity State.
